The Remington Model 78 Sportsman is a rifle with no equal, and a superior performer in every way. Its accuracy and dependability have become the standard by which all other centerfire rifles are measured and continually fall short.

Still the most accurate rifle out-of-the-box, the Sportsman is the no frills cousin to the Model 700, which brings its famous action and renowned consistency to this diverse family of guns—known for the 3 rings of steel receiver, barrel, and bolt encircling the cartridge head.

The Sportsman’s strong, smooth action, consistent accuracy, simplicity and unequaled value are the same qualities which have made the Model 700 the hunter’s favorite for 40 years.

The 30-06 cartridge delivers hard hitting performance and a flat trajectory for those cross canyon shots at large game.

The plain stock is not enhanced by a cheek piece, hinged floorplate, or fancy checkering. Metalwork has workman like bluing for protection. Features include a ramp front sight, and sling swivel studs. The adjustable rear sight can be procured through the Remington website, if desired.
