If you want a hunting ready pre-1964 manufactured Winchester 70, but are afraid of ruining a collectors gun, this is the rifle for you. 6 digit serial numbered pre-64 rifle with the upper receiver serial number ground off. Not to fear, this rifle has a legit serial number. It has been passed through law enforcement and is serialized on the bottom of the receiver. Magazine capacity is 4, the barrel is 24”.
The metal is nearly perfect, bluing is pushing 95%, no doubt due to a re-blue job in the recent past. The muzzle crown is free of any bluing, and the bolt handle has a few rub marks. The rear sight is missing, typical of rifles which have had scopes mounted in the past. The floor plate and trigger guard are in good condition and functional. This rifle has the famous coned breech and claw extractor common to all the pre-64 models.
Wood is around 80% with one repaired area on the comb. Original steel butt plate is installed, as well as sling swivel studs and a sling. There are no splits or cracks in the tang or magazine box. See photos for details.
The scope is an old school Weaver 2-7x with plain crosshair in low Weaver Detachable Top mounts. A discount of $75 is offered without the scope and mounts.
As always, borescope photos of throat are available upon request. Complete borescope report with photos available for $85, with or without sale. 3 day inspection period with full refund minus shipping.
$650 + shipping to an FFL of your choice, or $585 + tax for local pickup. No trades, thank you.
